Besides the regular factors there are other factors which help a candidate to choose any one of them.
1. Job security is offered in both the jobs as the vacancies are for the public sector banks and government departments.
- Growth and promotions offered in SSC CHSL post is slow and does not reach to the top level positions to that of an IAS officer in the government department. IBPS Clerk is given an opportunity to become a Branch Manage or Regional Manager as it has steady promotion strategies for the candidates. Promotions in banks are offered every 3 to 4 years depending upon the performance of the candidate. In case of SSC CHSL post the promotions will be given if there is a vacancy of senior post lying vacant in the department.
- The working hours for IBPS Clerk and Clerks appointed through SSC CHSL exam are same i.e from 10 am to 5 pm. Bank clerks have more work pressure as compared to clerks of government departments. Bank clerk is allowed to leave the office after clearing his or her routine work as most of the cash transactions need to be cleared the same day. SSC CHSL based job does not have any daily commitments before leaving the office. Therefore, SSC CHSL seems better than IBPS Clerk job.
- The salary difference between SSC CHSL and IBPS Clerk is not high. Banks offer promotions at a senior level after giving 10 to 15 years of continuous job where as SSC CHSL based jobs does not offer any such promotions.
- Working Pressure of SSC CHSL based jobs is relaxed as there is no time bound work assigned to them. Bank clerk have a public dealing which increases the pressure as good and efficient service is expected by the public in general. It increases the work pressure of bank clerks. Thus SSC CHSL is a better option as far as work pressure is concerned.
Choice still lies on your priorities as bank is taken as a prestigious sector to work with.
